If you want to see the city from one of the best views, you can go through the lobby of the Stein Hotel, turn right and take the elevator to the roof terrace on the roof of the hotel. There you can sit outside, order a "Hugo" cocktail and enjoy the view of the city. It's actually the postcard view you saw on Google.
After dark, you should visit a small cocktail bar serving the best mixed drinks in Salzburg. There's always something going on here and it's teeming with locals.
